Trial - The Illustrated London News Historical Archive

We have arranged a trial of the Illustrated London News Historical Archive.

It became the world's first illustrated weekly newspaper, sparking a revolution in journalism and news reporting. The publication presented a vivid picture of British and world events - including news of war, disasters, royalty, social affairs, the arts and science. Containing over 260,000 full colour pages, fully searchable and browseable, the ILN Historical Archive 1842-2003 provides users with unprecedented access to the entire run of this unique historical record.

Service disruption - Saturday 17 April - Update

While the University systems are down, access to many of our e-resources will be available via Athens. Login via http://www.athensams.net/myathens with your LJMU username and password.

Service Disruption - Saturday 17th April

There is a planned power outage in the JMU tower between 8am to approx 5pm on Saturday 17th April 2010 - this will affect many of our services including access to Electronic resources via LJMU and the Off-Campus applications service.

Severe Network problems

Due to a major electrical disruption in one of our buildings some Liverpool John Moores University computing services are at present unavailable - this includes areas of the Electronic Library.

Computing and Information Services are working to restore all disrupted services.

New Resource - Law

We are pleased to announce that we have purchased the Law module of Oxford Scholarship Online, which is a collection of e-books.

It is available from the Database A-Z on the Electronic Library - search for Oxford Scholarship Online - Law. On campus you do not need to log in to access the resource, off-campus you will need to log in via Athens.

The academic law list at Oxford has a strong tradition of developing exceptional work across the full breadth of legal scholarship. The publications range from the foundations of legal history and philosophy to analytic and comparative work on legal doctrine and empirical research on law in modern society.

In addition to the full text access in law it is possible to access the abstracts and keywords at book and chapter level for the other subject areas.

We have arranged a trial of The Financial Times Historical Archive. This archive is the complete searchable facsimile run of the world's most authoritative daily business newspaper. Every article and advertisement ever printed in the paper can be searched and browsed individually and page by page. This is an essential, comprehensive and unbiased research tool for everyone studying public affairs, and economic and financial history of the last 120 years.
